Do you ever look at your kids and hope that one day they will take after either you or your spouse a little bit more than what they currently do? So far Kevin is so much like his Daddy. While I love his Daddy, there are some things that I hope he doesn’t follow his Daddy’s footsteps in. For example… his temper. Daddy (and I will admit Mommy sometimes too) has a quick temper. Kevin has been doing better on controlling it, but when he does snap… you better watch out. I was always hoping by taking karate that would help control his temper a little. So far I think it has a little, but he still has quite a ways to go. Of course when I see him getting mad at his sister, most of the times I can’t blame him as I would be just as mad if what she did to him she did to me.
Then there is the issue of his skin. Parts of me hopes he has my skin when I was in high school as I didn’t have much acne and I know Paul did as he ended up taking acne pills, but I wouldn’t want him to have my skin now as I’m allergic to quite a few things that will make me break out in a bad rash with oozy sores. Thankfully (after 9 years) it’s finally starting to get better, but unfortunately I have a feeling I will always have the scars from them.
But there is one thing I do hope he gets from his Daddy and that would have to be his Daddy’s outgoingness. Paul can just walk up to anyone and start talking with them. No matter if we are in a store, at a wedding or him driving around looking for places to hunt and I would have to say a majority of the time people love talking to him. I’ve gone with him before when looking for places to hunt and let me tell you, he doesn’t know how to quickly talk to someone. There was one time he was going to drive over to this one place (15 minutes away) as he had to talk to them about something and 4 hours later he finally came home. That whole time he was chatting about anything and everything.
So do you wish your little one took after you or your spouse? If so, who do you wish they take more after? You or them?
