Can I just say I can’t wait till next week when I can have a semi normal week again. (Semi normal due to Thanksgiving being next week already!)
Monday I ended up making 30+ cupcakes to take to Kevin’s karate class so he could celebrate his birthday, returned our library books, helped Kevin finish his homework, and then went and bought Kevin some “new” sparring equipment off Craigslist for him to wear at practice at night.
Tuesday was Kevin’s birthday and he turned the big 6 years old! As you can tell I was quite busy that day I didn’t even get to blog about how it was his birthday. SHAME ON ME! I had planned to have his martial arts instructor buy some things from the Kwon store on Monday so I could wrap them for his present on Tuesday, to find out the store was out of stock what I wanted and that was suppose to be his “big” gift! So that meant I had to do some quick last minute shopping for him on top of everything else going on that day. My Mom ended up saying she would go shopping with me as I was going to have to head to muskegon to get a star wars lego set I knew Kevin would enjoy. So as I was going to take Katie to school, Paul called to say he was on his way home from hunting! So I ended up having him pick my Mom up so I could drop Katie off and start on Kevin’s birthday cake. (At least get it in the oven) Paul and my Mom got here so her and I jumped in my car and off shopping we went. Paul stayed home so he could get the cake out of the oven and Katie picked up from school so we wouldn’t have to watch the time so much. We both ended up finding Kevin some more items and then ended up swinging into the Lakeshore Mall to see if we could find anything else there. Then I dropped my Mom off at home to rush home so I could start cutting and decorating Kevin’s cake to look like lightsabers. I got that about done when Kevin got home and I ended up letting him open one present (the Iron Man underwear) before we all headed out for his birthday dinner. (He wanted Chinese at the buffet place) After dinner we stopped and got ice cream and came home and waited for Paul’s parents, niece and nephew to come over for Kevin’s party. Needless to say Kevin loved all of his presents and had the time of his life.
Wednesday we had our neighbor boy come over and play all day with us so his Mom could go out and do her Christmas shopping. This was pretty much the only day she was going to be able to get shopping as she will be starting her next round of Chemo next week. Let me just say those 2 small Star Wars Lego sets kept those two boys (5 & 6) busy pretty much ALL day! I think they might of played club penguin for a 1/2 hour, but otherwise it was all star wars legos! After the neighbor boy went home we headed over to my parents where we ended up having another birthday party with my parents, sister, brother-in-law and niece and nephews. What was nice was since we had leftover cake from the 1st party and I was so caked out at this point I ended up making the light part on the lightsabers out of rice krispie treats and re-used the handle part from the cake before since we never even touched that part. That way people could have cake or rice krispie treats!
Today both kids once again had school and I was actually able to come home and “relax” of course since it had been so long since I worked out I thought maybe now would be a good time to do a little exercising before the kids come home, because for me it’s so hard to do that as they always want to “help”. So a workout and shower later (and a few emails to my friend) I went back to pick up Katie only to bring her home for a little bit (enough for lunch) to brush her teeth and head out to the dentist. She was complaining about having a cavity on her back tooth, which she did before and they filled it, but when I looked closer the other day the side of her tooth was all black and it started freaking me out. It really freaked Paul out too and he had me call her dentist right away (yesterday) and we ended up getting in today at 1pm. We get there and 1/2 hour to hour later we find out her teeth are looking great! Actually they came and got me so I could show them where the “cavity” was. I told them that big black spot and that’s when the dentist just smiled and said.. “you mean her filling?”. I felt like the biggest dork, but relieved at the same time. So now I’m home thinking I’ll quick blog a little since Katie’s enjoying her bubble bath and we wait for Kevin to get home from school. I am now adding another thing to my to do list today. Kevin has a pair of sparring shoes that are to big for him. Another boy in his class was having the same issue so the Dad went to the store we bought them at to see if they had a smaller size and they did and did an even exchange! Since we once again have karate tonight and I know they will be sparring I’ve decided it might be best to go out there and exchange his for the smaller size. By the sounds of things they put the wrong size sticker on Kevin’s pair.. he has a small instead of an x-small! So we will quick run out there, to hurry back and have supper, get Katie over to Grandma & Grandpa’s house to then take Kevin to Karate.
Tomorrow is Friday and I’m starting to look forward to it. Kevin has school and the only extra thing I have going on is going to school tomorrow to help out with centers. That will be from 10:20-11:30 so after that I can actually try and get back on a normal schedule here! I just might have to take Katie to the library so we can find a movie for the night so we can just kick back as a family and enjoy some relaxation time, unless we want to play board games instead?!?
Then Saturday the only thing we have going on is at night. We get to go to our friends 6 year old sons “I’m done with Chemo” party!! Needless to say we are all looking forward to celebrating with him!!
After this week, next week will be quite boring. Good thing we have Thanksgiving that will spice it up a little, otherwise what exciting thing would we have to do? Doing something silly like change the refrigerator water filters? Even though that really does need doing, but I think I will add that to the to do list next week, unless I do go shopping for one after I get done helping out with Kevin’s class tomorrow?!?
