It all started this past February when we were down in Alabama visiting my parents. Paul and I took the kids to the beach and of course I brought my camera in hopes of getting “the shot”. After clicking away I thought it was time for me to run around and have some fun too, so I carefully placed the camera on our blanket and tore off after one of the kids. Awhile later I went back to the blanket to find it flipped upside down and then camera face down in the sand with the flash up! Needless to say my heart sank and I wanted to cry.
Paul and I took turns blowing the sand out as best as we could, but when we turned it on you could hear the sand grind in the camera when the lens came out. When we got home I called all the camera repair shops to find out that not only can they not fix sand in a camera, but even if they could they wouldn’t be able to due to the camera being a Sony. I guess all Sony repairs has to be done at Sony.
That was 8 months ago and I’m happy to say our Sony is still working, but there are times that I have a hard time with the auto focus as it doesn’t want to work. Sometimes when I’m taking a video of something (Kevin sparring) it will be all focused to only be all blurry a few seconds later. Then to take a picture I tend to know that the first picture won’t be in focus as you can’t push the button 1/2 way down, it’s all or nothing. Thankfully after that picture you can then push it 1/2 way down.
Since Christmas is around the corner I’m now checking all the ads looking at digital cameras. I just wish I knew what kind we would want. Parts of me would love to go all out and get a nice big one where I could put different lenses on it, but I also like the size of the one we currently have due to when ever the kids and I go somewhere I can just throw it in my purse so I pretty much have it on me all the time.
What kind of digital camera do you have? If you could go shopping for one right now, what kind would you get? Would you get the same one you currently have?
