It’s kind of amazing to see all the companies that are now going green. While most people know that companies like the water bottle companies go green by using recycled plastics, but I wonder how many people know that there are printing companies that are going green and it’s not just because they are printing on recycled paper either!
I had found out there is a company that sells Anilox roll cleaner which I guess is what people in the printing department uses and while I’m not sure what all is in the product I know the company it’s self promotes that they are a greener cleaner.
I know that’s what I enjoy using around the house though… cleaners from natural products versus the harsh chemicals. It’s fun to see businesses thinking the same way as well.
For Christmas my parents ended up buying us a gps since we bought them one last year and they ended up loving it. So this week when we head to Florida it will be the first time we will of ever used it on a big trip. Thankfully we know how to get there since we have done it the past couple years, but I think it will be interesting to see which way our talking lady takes us. I just hope she doesn’t take us on a two track where we end up getting stuck and no one finds us for a week.
Do you have a GPS? If so, has your GPS ever goofed up on you before? If so, was it a scary goof up? Please tell!
Do you have a back-splash in your kitchen? If so, what do you have? Do you have tiles or do you have some of your counter placed up there? We currently don’t have a back splash and I honestly never thought about having one until we went to Florida last year when the house we stayed at had the same counter as ours and they had a back-splash with the same counter top.
The back-splash actually made the kitchen look so much nicer. (Maybe it’s because our paint shows every little thing?) Plus by having a back-splash I wouldn’t of lost paperwork and photo cards that have slipped down the back of our counters between the counter & the wall. There isn’t a big gap by any means, but big enough for a piece of paper to slip down. Thankfully the paper I lost wasn’t that important, but had it of been I have no clue what we would of done.
So now we are thinking maybe we best be looking at back-splashes and just don’t know which would be the best way to go. Of course maybe first we should see if they even sell our counter top anymore and even if they did, who knows if it would match now as I’m sure our counter top has faded since we installed it close to 9 years ago! (Has it really been that long?!?)
Well, Grand Rapids once again made the news, but not in a good way. A new report from the Brookings Institution on poverty in the U.S. claims that Grand Rapids growth in poverty between 2000-2008 was the greatest. In 2008 the Grand Rapids poverty rate hit 24.7%!
No wonder people are moving out of Michigan in groves since they are probably looking for jobs all over not caring where they go, as long as they can get a job. Of course a few girls I have talked to said they would rather look at a Sacramento job search where it’s warmer than looking at some place in North Dakota.
Thankfully for now Paul seems to be ok at his job, but there is a rumor that they will be laying off over 100 guys pretty soon, so who knows how much longer he will be safe. All I know is I hope he’s safe until the job market turns around and then he can find a bigger and better job.
I just got done taking Kevin to the bus stop and Katie to pre-school. All I can say is it’s quite chilly out there today. Which makes me more than ready to be heading down to Florida & Alabama next month! To think.. no more winter coats, boots, gloves, neck warmers, and hats. No more piling on the blankets or turning on an electric blanket at night. Instead we will be able to walk around either without a coat or a light coat/sweatshirt, wear sandals, and not have a need for a ton of blankets unless we have the AC on high, which I highly doubt.
Can you tell after going outside today I’m ready to head south?
Usually when you go on a vacation/trip you come back weighing more than when you left. This past weekend I ended up going to Vegas with some of the girls and am happy to say when we got home instead of gaining a few pounds I actually lost a few pounds! I would love to know what happened to the other girls. Of course we didn’t go to any of those buffet places so I’m sure had we of gone to them, I wouldn’t of.
Instead we ate in moderation. (My friend and I actually split meals and by doing that we had the perfect amount where we felt full, but not stuffed) Plus we did TONS of walking! I think one of the girls said we walked for about 10 hours! (now you know why my feet were killing me) So between the eating on moderation and getting a lot of exercise (walking and stairs) it actually equaled out to loosing some weight!
So instead of thinking of using thermogenic fat burners, maybe you could think of booking a trip to Vegas? All I know is the walking there is a lot more fun than the walking down our busy street with no sidewalk.
It’s amazing how many pills us Americans consume every day. We take things like Ambien for sleeping, murad for Acne, and Vicodin for pain. What I find scary though is to think of all those chemicals we are putting into our bodies. I usually think of aspirin being ok to take, but I had heard before on tv how taking it after consuming alcohol is actually bad for you. (which is what I would do to avoid a hangover) The reason being is because it actually will hurt your liver. I wish I could remember which show it was that had it on. I’m not sure if it was 20/20 or dateline. I would have to think it must of been one of those shows.. I just might have to google to find it again.
Where is my Fairy God Mother? If I had one I wouldn’t want one to wave the wand and say Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo to give me a new outfit. Instead I would rather she wave her weight loss wand and say Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo and take me from the size I am down to at least a size 12! Oh how wonderful that would be. I can promise you, if she did that I would be happier than Cinderella ever was!
It seems like it never fails, even though I’m in my 30’s it seems like whenever I have some place important to go, out pops the acne. Parts of me wonders if stress can cause acne to happen since when I do have important places to go I tend to start stressing? That’s why I’m surprised that my face is still clear (knock on wood) because tonight I’m leaving my kids for 3 night which is the most I’ve ever been away from them and I’m already worrying about how things will go. I know the kids will be fine and will have fun, but I can’t help but wonder what things Paul will be teaching them when I’m gone. It never fails.. whenever I leave him home with the kids even to go grocery shopping I come home to see they learned a new “trick”.
When I gave birth to Katie, Paul taught Kevin how to push the kitchen chairs over to the cupboard so he could get his own snack. How cool right?!? WRONG! How to take all the cushions off the couch so they can make camps. (that one I don’t mind so much, but I don’t care for when they want to do that when people are sitting ON the couch) and I wish I could remember all the other ones because I know there was a list of them.
Now you see why I might be stressing a little because not only what will he teach them, but how will the house be when I get home? Is it to late for me to cancel my trip??
I always thought how wonderful it would be to have a hot tub. To be able to go outside late at night, crank up the bubble and kick back, relax and watch for shooting stars. I remember when I was dating Paul, his parents had one and it always so nice to sit out there and watch the stars and see who could find the satellites first.
Funny how things change once you get your own house and you see what heat bills look like without having to heat a hot tub! It was after seeing our heat bills I then knew that we would never own a hot tub since not only do you have to heat it, you also have to buy the chemicals that go into it and spa filters too!
So from now on I guess the only way I will ever be able to gaze at the stars and looking for the satellites in a hot tub will be if Paul and I go to the hot tub rental places like Oasis. Granted they aren’t cheap either, but they are a lot cheaper than having to heat one!
Do you have a hot tub? If so, how much did your electric or gas bill increase when you started running it?
